Cutting Through the Red Tape

The latest edition of the Indian Land Tenure Foundation's Message Runner, "Cutting through the Red Tape," is now available in print and online.

This issue of the Message Runner offers insight into the maze-like bureaucratic processes produced by federal involvement in the property management of tribes and individual Indians. Meant to be an educational tool, Cutting through the Red Tape provides examples of 12 common federal forms related to Indian land ownership and management, and offers guided help for how to read and process each form.

With the settlement of the Cobell litigation, tools like “Red Tape” will help landowners as they consider their options through a better understanding of their assets. ILTF’s goal is to help landowners know their options toward informed decision making about their land. We think “Red Tape” is a critical piece to achieve that goal.
