Native Philanthropy Institute & Emerging Leaders Summit

The 2nd Native Philanthropy Institute attracted more than two hundred attendees over three days to strengthen organizations and increase resources for self-determined social change in Native communities. Highlights included an emerging leaders summit and keynote by Wilma Mankiller, speaking on tribal leadership and philanthropy. Educational sessions included "Tribal Philanthropy and Economic Development," "Fund Development for Indian Country" and "Investments in Indian Country." The local cultural elements of space and place combined with drumming and comedians made the event an outstanding experience for all!

Fort McDowell The Emerging Leaders Summit involved over 100 participants of Native nonprofit leadership development efforts in Alaska; North Carolina; and the Midwest, Northwest and Southwest regions. Summit participants explored common strategies and challenges, as well as the potential for establishing a national Native nonprofit leadership network.

The 2008 Native Philanthropy Institute and Annual Awards Celebration will be held in Washington D.C. April 25, & 26, 2008
